Dependance.
jQuery has made me a worse programmer. Here’s how.
I was in a situation yesterday where I was on a computer with a fresh windows install and no internet connection. No runtimes, IDEs, nothing. The only thing I could think to do was write a Javascript application. EXCEPT, the first thing I do when I write a JS app is include my local copy of jQuery, but as the computer had no internet connection, I was unable to. It was a wakeup call.
It’s made me realize how little I actually know of plain ol’ regular Javascript. I still knew the easy stuff, but once you’ve getElementById’d, what do you do with it?
I’m gonna try and learn Javascript the manly and legit way: BY HAND.
